For 30 years, the German Children and Youth Foundation (DKJS) has been working with its alliances to shape good education that engages children from the outset and safely guides them into careers as young adults. It takes young people and their concerns seriously. To this end, it initiates change processes and brings together stakeholders from administration, politics, science, business, civil society, and practice to jointly develop responses to current challenges in the education system. Vision – what we want. A here, a now, and a future for every child. We want a fair, democratic, and diverse society for current and future generations. A society that is shaped by children and young people and opens up new perspectives for them. A society in which everyone exercises their right to education and participation. A society in which the well-being of children is the focus. The potential of every young person is recognized and promoted, regardless of their background, abilities, and economic situation. Mission – what we do. We create spaces. For education and participation. Through our alliances, we shape good education that engages every child from the outset and offers young people secure pathways into careers. Because education is the most important prerequisite for development, health, democracy, and social security. We ensure that children and young people have a say, can help shape things, and participate. Because taking young people and their interests seriously is the very foundation for making our society fairer and better.
